EHL118. Bath Chair Stand. Victorian/Edwardian. 10 Bolton Road, Eastbourne, opposite Kamsons Pharmacy. what3words location: city.rise.props

Licence plates were attached to the base of a wall where the licence holder was permitted to stand whilst awaiting hire.

This is the BCS plate that was identified as ‘at risk’ late in 2022 by Keith Bell who was monitoring the building work at 10 Bolton Road.  The plate was put aside by the builders to be refitted after the boundary wall was resurfaced, but subsequently went missing.  It resurfaced on Facebook and was recovered in a combined effort between Kevin Gordon and the local Police Heritage Officer.  It was then repainted by Bob Cookson and refitted in its original position in 2023 with the blessing of the building’s owner.
